Chapters 23 and 24 Summary

Chapter 23: Thunderstorm

Another laser strikes Ana's wing instantly burning through the silk. Sam's wound isn't deep. Their attacker is standing in the shadows between two fir trees. Ana pulls her knife from her hair, ready to defend Sam and herself. She slashes through her wings so they won't impede them. She leads Sam through the streets while the assault on them continues. They hide behind a bush but after a few moments, Ana decides to look around and see if she can spot their attacker. Her wing is hit again. This time it melts the wire frame. Suddenly, a large figure emerges from the hiding spot. It isn't Sam. The man is chasing her. The man grabs her and throws her to the ground. She feels the stinging of another strike to her elbow and thigh. Her knife spins away from...
