Summary

Pages 102-106 - Raami went to see her father at the meditation pavilion. Papa told Raami about his childhood friend, a poor bread seller. The boys would play at break time, and once, they got into a fight over marbles, a fight that Ayuravann started. However, because of Ayuravann’s royal status, the other boy was reprimanded for the fight and beaten by the school security guard who said “You’re talking to a prince, you dirty worm!” (104). The security guard kept referring to Ayuravann’s title and name, just like Raami had done earlier that night, but with different effects. He explained to Raami that he thought different classes could be friends, but he learned when his friend was beaten that he was wrong. Raami did not understand why her father felt bad about the boy until Ayuravann explained he felt guilt...
