Ch. 8: Fears Summary

Alanna spends the summer learning about being a girl from Mistress Cooper, learning how to manage Trebond from Myles, and learning about love from Jonathan. It is discovered that Delia was only seeing Jonathan so that she could make Roger, whom she calls "Master," happy. She is confused that Jonathan no longer has anything to do with her. Roger tells her to keep pretending to be in love with Jonathan; he has another plan he is about to put into action.

The queen becomes ill and it is clear she is slowly dying. Jonathan's worry keeps him away from Alanna. Alanna goes to Myles and tells him that she thinks the queen's illness is sorcery. She tells him about Roger and the wolves and other things that she suspects have been done by Roger. Myles cautions her not to threaten Roger...
