Ch. 4: A Cry of War Summary

Alanna is visiting George at the Dancing Dove. His spies have told him that King Ain of Tusaine - spurred on by Duke Hilam - has mobilized its armies and plans to attack at the Drell River. He gives her a map outlining Tusaine's troop movements. It has been almost a year since George kissed Alanna on Jonathan's birthday, but his attentions to her haven't stopped.

Alanna takes the map and information straight to Myles. Myles takes the information to King Roald. The passes leading to the Drell river valley are open and the kingdom will have little time to prepare for war. Jonathan comes back from meetings with the War Council and tells Alanna to prepare for war; they will leave in five days lead by Duke Gareth. Alanna reflects that she will see...
