Summary

In Chapter 22, Ruby finally regains full consciousness and realizes that Clancy has been controlling her, slipping into her mind while she was asleep. She also realizes that she sent messages through the Ranch's servers so that soldiers will soon be arriving. Clancy plans to get away in the midst of that. Ruby tells Chubs and Vida to take everyone away from the Ranch as fast as possible to a safe location, promising to follow. She goes to Clancy's cell to find Nico is already there. Nico is crying, demanding to know why Clancy hurts everyone around him, even those who are trying to help him. Clancy does not deny controlling Ruby, and reminds her that she opened the possibility by connecting so often with him. The frequency of their minds connecting allowed Clancy to control her from a distance. While she was sleeping...
