Chapter 3 Summary

Dick comes home with twenty dollars he has collected, and Jim says that they could all eat for a month on that. He is sure Mac will spend it on stamps, though. While being arrested for making a speech on a street corner, Joy has been charged with sticking a cop in the shoulder with his pocketknife. Mac comes in and tells Dick to call their lawyer, George Camp, to try to get Joy out of jail on a drunk charge. He mentions that the sanity board would put Joy away for life. Mac insists that Dick go do that without even stopping for supper, come back to eat and then round up some sympathizers for bail.
