Harry is working on a report, and Jim keeps trying to chat. He wonders if changing your name makes a difference. He then reminisces about childhood as he watches some kids playing handball. Jim tells Harry the story of the mysterious disappearance of his sister when she was still in school. He says another girl vanished the same way two years later. He talks about how it changed his mother. It made her quieter and sort of dead and made his father angrier and more combative. Harry decides that he will not get his report done while Jim is there, so he quits to take Jim to the "house" (12) to get rid of him. He makes a point of taking the paper with him, because the cops go through the place regularly.
