Summary

Deven goes back to the brothel for one last visit to the room where Nur spoke and where his words were recorded. He tells Chiku that Nur is not coming back, and just as Chiku is protesting that he should have been told, the brothel’s owner arrives and tells them to get out, insisting that Deven make sure she is paid. Chiku and Deven then make their way back to the shop where Deven purchased the tape recorder. There, Deven calls Murad and convinces him to come and listen to the tapes before they are taken back to Mirpore for editing and transcribing. Murad eventually agrees, but when the tapes are finally played after a great deal of confused effort is made to get the recorder to work, it turns out that the tapes are mostly unusable.
