Chapter 4, Sweetheart of The Rodeo Summary and Analysis

The GTOs give their first serious stage performance. Frank Zappa detects potential talent in the GTOs and urges them to write some songs while he goes on tour. He mentions the GTOs in an article that appears in Life Magazine. A new girl, known as Miss Mercy, comes into the scene. There is conflict between her and Miss Lucy over a guy named Bernardo, but Mr. Zappa deems her a good addition to the GTOs due to her outlandish look. Mercy brings another girl named Cynderella, "a confirmed fibber" who has great lyrical ideas.

Pamela gets sidelined in the hospital with hepatitis, but gets a clean bill of health just as the Jimi Hendrix Experience arrives in town. She contacts Noel Redding, who invites her to the hotel where the group is staying...
