Summary

The Girlfriend indicates she believes a good deal of what we learn about other people comes through our observation of their behavior. She describes watching Jake eat his breakfast in the morning and worries that she could not stand to live with him and his habits the rest of their lives. In the next section, the Girlfriend tries to persuade herself just to enjoy the trip.
