Chapters 11 and 13 Summary
In chapter eleven, Carley's mom is checking her out of the hospital and Carley takes the opportunity to say good-bye to Reba. Reba asks what Carley is going to do about Kyle and she says they simply won't see each other again so it's not an issue. Reba urges her to reconsider but Carley refuses. She stops in at Kyle's room and Kyle asks if Carley intends to keep her promise to remain friends with Kyle. She says she does and hopes that he'll forgive her when she doesn't keep that promise. She is seated near him and he reaches out unexpectedly and touches her face. She almost jerks back but he's touching the smooth side of her face and she remains still for the touch. She's obviously crying when she joins her mother back in her room and says she's been saying good-bye. Her mom says it's interesting that...
