Summary

At 7:13 p.m. Mia sees Adam arriving at the hospital with Kim. She realizes that she should have known her friend would go to him and bring him here. Out-of-body Mia returns to the ICU for Adam’s arrival, but the nurses will not let him see her because he is not immediate family. As he buckles to the floor, Kim supports him, and they walk away. Mia reflects on the fact that she and Kim had both assumed neither would have a boyfriend until they got to college; so, Adam was a surprise. Kim was very supportive of the relationship; but, she and Adam never became close friends, which bothered Mia. Kim tried to explain that she and Adam were from different parts of Mia’s life.
