Chapters 22-24 Summary

Chapter 22 starts with Lucy feeling overwhelmed by having to complete not only her self-portrait but the next art assignment as well. Lucy uses her lunch breaks and even skips a math class to complete her self-portrait. When the painting is complete, she feels numb rather than excited. Sam asks to see it and he tells her that it's incredible. He discusses what he likes about the painting, telling Lucy that what she called a mistake "makes the painting." Suddenly, Lucy feels like she's able to see the painting for the first time and she realizes that he's right and finding that she loves the painting as well.
