Chris

Chris is an experimental filmmaker who is married to Sylvère. She is approaching her fortieth birthday and is unhappy in her life and career. She has an intellectual relationship with her husband, rather than a sexual one. Their marriage has evolved into friendship.

Chris develops a deep obsession with Dick after she and Sylvère spend the night at his house. Dick’s flirtation awakens something in her. Chris articulates her desire to her husband and it reignites the passion in their marriage for a brief time.

Chris leaves her husband and goes to pursue Dick and discover herself as an intellectual. She wants to be thought of as an individual, who is regarded as smart and equal to men. She wants Dick’s attention and respect until she decides she wants autonomy from him to pursue her own cultural criticism.
