Summary

Chapter 5 is titled “Happiness.” Freya, Nathaniel, and Harun run down the street and into a park where some young men are playing baseball. Nathaniel instinctively catches a foul ball. A young man introduces himself as Finny and says three members of their team are late. He pleads with Nathaniel, Freya, and Harun to play until the three members arrive, citing the fact that another team wants them to leave because they do not have a full roster. Nathaniel clearly wants this and Freya and Harun agree after Finny assures them the stakes are low, they will be outfitted with gloves, and there is beer at the end. Harun ignores his phone, knowing Ammi is becoming worried because he has not made it home yet. Freya and Nathaniel are stationed in outfield so Nathaniel can cover for her.
