Summary

Chapter 1 is titled “I Have Lost my Way.” Freya Kebede types the words “I have lost my way” (1) on her phone. She is on her way to a doctor's appointment and wonders what her fans would say if she posted it. She did not plan the words but feels they are true. She realizes she hit the button to post it, and the responses begin immediately. Her mother texts her the address of the doctor's office, misunderstanding the message. Freya deletes the post, hoping no one shared it before she could. Freya's mother, Mrs. Kebede, is waiting to escort her in to the doctor's office.
