Summary

Chapter IV opens with a man named Munra waiting in a van, as two younger men sneak into the Witch’s house. After some time, the two men come back and demand that Munra drive them away.

The story flashes back in time, as the narrator explains that Munra lives with his stepson, Luismi, who struggles with a pill addiction. One night Luismi complains that his girlfriend, Norma, is sick and bleeding. Munra brushes it off as menstruation. Later that night, Norma loses so much blood that they have to take her to the hospital. Norma remains in the hospital and Luismi explains nothing to Munra. Meanwhile, Munra’s wife, Chabela, has been gone for days. Munra assumes she is out partying, as she often does while working as a prostitute.

One day Luismi finally tells Munra what happened with Norma. He explains...
