Summary

The story opens in the morning in the city of Spokane, Washington. A man called Tub is standing by the side of the road, holding a rifle. It is winter and snowing. Tub has been waiting there for an hour. A pickup truck appears on the road, and Tub recognizes it as belonging to his friends. The truck speeds towards Tub quickly. Tub jumps out of the way of the truck’s path and drops his gun. The truck rushes past him before braking. In the truck are Tub’s friends and hunting partners, Frank and Kenny. Tub yells at Kenny, who was driving, for almost hitting him with the truck. However, Kenny and Frank laugh at their prank and tell Tub to calm down. Tub enters the truck; he is angry at them for making him wait. The truck’s windshield is broken...
