Summary

Chapter 14 is titled “The Fiendishly Clever Plan.” Toothless refuses to cooperate with Hiccup, prompting Snotlout to make fun of Hiccup's inability to control his dragon until everyone else tells him to “shuddup” (178). Hiccup's plan is complex. Dragons are prone to asthma because they breathe fire and the smoke gets into their lungs. The boys gather lots of feathers from a spot on the beach where gulls nest. Then they steal every piece of material they can find and wrap up feathers to make feather bombs. They use diapers, pajamas, and Valhallarama's bra.
