Someone Like You, by Sarah Dessen is a fictional story for young adults that is told in the first person perspective by the main character, Halley Cooke. In this tale, Halley's best friend Scarlett loses her boyfriend in an accident just after they have sex for the first time. The condom breaks and Scarlett finds herself pregnant, and without the baby's father to help. Her mother immediately insists on an abortion, but Scarlett is unable to go through with it. She decides to keep Michael's baby. Meanwhile, her best friend Halley becomes involved with Michael's best friend Macon. Macon is a wild child who likes to party and lives life on the edge.
