Summary

In Chapter Thirteen, Gamache, Jerome and Therese settle into Emilie’s house. They share the ways they finagled and tricked one another, and their enemies, to reach their safe place. Jerome, however, doesn’t seem to feel safe after what he discovered on his last search of the Internet. He seems afraid his identity might have been discovered. Meanwhile, Beauvoir is just breathing a sigh of relief that the raid did not happen when Tessier tells him he’s been put on the next planned raid. After Tessier leaves, Beauvoir cries.

In Chapter Fourteen, after dinner Gamache and Jerome take a walk. Jerome asks Gamache if he brought them to Three Pines because of the lack of satellite coverage.
