After Ally leaves, Sammy reflects on his blindness, and the difficulties of living with a disability. He feels very tired and overwhelmed by his situation, but after a while he starts to feel more positive and in control. He regains some self-respect and resolves to escape with his head held high, clean and shaven. Before taking his leave, however, he sets out in the pouring rain to buy some food to take with him.
