Chapters 13, 14 and 15 Summary

Duncan has ordered Madelyne to her room, and has told Madelyne that she's not to be his captive much longer, but hasn't explained what he meant. As Madelyne works on a tapestry, she considers the remark. Adela tells Madelyne that Louddon has sent soldiers to retrieve Madelyne. She says the messenger told Duncan that Madelyne is to go to London where she's to marry Morcar. Madelyne considers the matter for some moments, then rushes downstairs where she plans to tell Duncan that he's to be her champion and that she wants Louddon's men set away. Adela is frightened of Duncan, but determined to stand at Madelyne's side when she makes her demand. Madelyne tells Duncan that she's been caught and, "I'm staying caught." Edmond and Gilard laugh at Madelyne's tirade......
