Summary

In Chapter VI the narrator tells how during his spree of casual sex he had contracted syphilis. He suspects that he contracted the disease from a woman named Asha. The narrator then describes Asha and his relationship to her. Asha was born in America to Pakistani parents, similar to the narrator. The narrator describes Asha’s upbringing and her parents’ attempt to conform her lifestyle to their Pakistani views.

The narrator describes meeting Asha while she is in New York attending a work conference. The night that they meet, the narrator is invited back to Asha’s hotel room. They have sex multiple times. The next morning, the narrator promises to visit her in Houston.
