Summary

Email from Monique Duchene to Annabelle Rosenmerck and David Rosenmerck – November 10, 2009. Subject line: “Sleep” (150). Monique writes of how much her life changed when she became a mother, and how she had always hoped to be able to leave her children an instruction manual to find happiness. She speaks of feeling reassured that her children’s names will be spoken after she has gone, and then describes how, when David and Annabelle spent time at Harry’s after the divorce, she would lie in their beds and imagine stroking their hair. She then says that it was more of a comfort for her to do that than what she imagined it would be for them, saying that “Wherever it is I’m going … every night you’ll feel my hand on your hair” (151).
