Summary

In Chapter 19, Virgil takes Shrake to the hospital. His injury is serious, but he will survive although it will take several weeks for him to recover. Virgil leaves the hospital and meets Zimmer and Jenkins. They think that the killer is someone who is a bow hunter who can also shoot. They go to talk to Osborne's son. He looks suspicious to Virgil when he sees Barry’s carpet cleaning truck and remembers seeing two rolled rugs at Glen's. After talking to him, though, both Virgil and Jenkins think that he is innocent. Virgil and Jenkins go back to Skinner & Holland and discuss whether the killer has a motive and what it could be or whether he is just crazy. They consult Skinner who says there is no one really crazy in the town. The motive comes back to money, which Skinner reminds...
