Summary

In Chapter 7, on the same night that Skinner and Janet are in Larry's home, Virgil is thinking about religion, and politics. The next morning Virgil runs into the priest of the church where people have sighted the Virgin Mary. He is eating an ice cream cone. The priest witnessed the first shooting.
