Martin Van Buren High School

Martin Van Buren High School is the high school that both Libby and Jack attend. The cafeteria of this school is the setting where Jack embraces Libby hoping to put an end to the Fat Girl Rodeo game. The office is where the principal punishes Libby and Jack by making them do community service work and attend counseling. The Conversation Circle meets in the gym. This same gym is where Libby has her try out for the Damsels and where she tells Caroline she does not want to be a part of the Damsels if she cannot be herself. One hallway in the school is the setting for Libby’s display of acceptance where she wears the purple bikini and hands out copies of the treatise “You Are Wanted” (316).
