Chapter 6 Summary

Once outside, Bilbo has no idea where he is, until he sees the sun setting behind him and realizes he is on the eastern side of the mountains, the other side they were aiming to find. He wonders where Gandalf and the dwarves are, and he almost decides that he should go back under the mountains, using the power of the ring to be invisible, and see if he can find them.

Then Bilbo hears voices talking and goes to investigate. It turns out to be his friends. Wearing the ring, he sneaks up into their midst, then takes the ring off, giving them a big surprise. He tells them his entire story, except he leaves out the part about the ring. Gandalf gives Bilbo a look, which leaves Bilbo wondering if Gandalf guesses.....
