Book Two, Calm Before the Storm: Chapters 24-31 Summary

In chapter twenty-four, Maggie is being led into the courthouse when a reporter asks if she killed Patrick too. Maggie spits in her face.

In chapter twenty-five, Patrick O'Malley argues with his accountant while walking through his new project, a luxury hotel. Patrick announces he has decided to call the hotel, the Cornelia Hotel, in honor of his wife who has passed away. Patrick and Cornelia had a close relationship, filled with love, and he feels this is a good way to honor her.

In chapter twenty-six, Cornelia's father did not want them to marry, but Cornelia defied him and they lived happily together for twenty years. Now Patrick buries himself in his work to fight off his loneliness and grief.
