River Bank

River Bank is the village in Jamaica where a majority of the action of the novel takes place. It is where various characters including Verdene, Miss Ruby, Margot, Delores and Thandi live. At the end of the novel, the residents are being forced out of River Bank so that a new resort can be built.

Palm Star Resort

Palm Star Resort is the resort on which the hotel where Margot works is located.

Bright Pink House

This bright pink house is located next to Miss Gracie’s house. It is the house that Verdene’s mother, Ella, left to her when she died. Verdene moved back to River Bank after her mother died and lives in that house.
