Summary

In Chapter 25, Charles is waiting for Thandi when she finishes the last round of her CXC exams. Thandi is not friendly to him because she feels her classmates are watching. He offers to carry her bag and her umbrella but Thandi refuses both offers. Thandi says she is in a hurry but Charles senses that she is ashamed of him. She tells him she is afraid of ending up like his mother and understands why her mother kept her from associating with certain people. He tells her that he understands and hopes she finds people worth associating with and walks away.
