Act 4, Scene 4 Summary
Pistol is on the battlefield with a French prisoner. He asks him his name and he responds Seigneur Dieu (oh dear god), but Pistol thinks his name is Dew. Then the Frenchman begs him to show mercy, but when Pistol hears the word "moi," French for me, he thinks the prisoner has said "moy," meaning money. The boy discovers that the man's name is Le Fer. Pistol makes several puns with the word fer, ferret and firk. The man says he is from a good family who will pay 200 crowns for his ransom.
After Pistol leaves with his prisoner, the boy reflects on Pistols hollow bravery. He reveals that Nym has died, and he is afraid for himself because boys have been left to guard the equipment.
