Act 3, Scene 6 Summary

At an English camp in Northern France, Fluellen comes to tell Gower that they were successful in defending the bridge. He says that Duke Exeter was great leader and that one soldier stood out for his bravery, Pistol. With this, Pistol comes to ask Fluellen to intercede on behalf of Bardolph who has been taken in for stealing a pax from the church. A pax was a small plate with an engraving of the crucifix on it and was not worth very much money. However, stealing anything from a church was punishable by death. Fluellen tells Pistol that he cannot interfere because order must be maintained.

The king comes upon the scene, and Fluellen immediately tells him of Exeter's bravery in saving the bridge. He says the French have lost many men, but the English only lost one—Bardolph who is about to be hanged.
