Act 2, Scene 3 Summary
Falstaff has died. The three soldiers must now prepare to depart for France. Nell wants to escort them part of the way, but they insist that she stay behind. They all lament over the passing of Falstaff and wish they could be with him in the afterlife for they are convinced his is in heaven. She describes the last moments of Falstaff's life to the three as they prepare to leave.
Pistol leaves her with instructions on running the inn and kisses her good bye. Bardolph kisses her as well, but Nym, still angry, refuses to kiss her goodbye. The three take off toward South Hampton where they will leave to France.
Act 2, Scene 3 Analysis
This scene mainly serves to let the audience know Jack Falstaff is dead. Quickly's description of his death is an emotional one, and she obviously misses him. The scene also sets up the three soldiers to be looters...
