Act 2, Scene 2 Summary

The king has discovered that there is a plot against his life, and his trusted advisors know who is against him. When Scroop, Cambridge, and Grey enter the room, they begin telling the king of all the support his subjects are giving to him. At that, Henry suggests that a man who committed a minor crime be released from prison. Scroop, Cambridge and Grey insist that he be kept in prison.

The king goes on to talk about the importance of mercy, but the three traitors continue to tell him not to show mercy. When they refuse to relent, Henry shows them papers that prove their plot against him. The three immediately confess and beg for mercy. However, Henry reminds them that they just argued against mercy. He does not understand why.....
