Summary

In Chapter Four, Mark began looking for a new job, tired of younger less-qualified men being promoted above him.

One morning, Mark was returning to the apartment at an unusual hour, and saw a construction worker staring at Heather. The look on the man’s face filled Mark with dread. Mark returned home shortly before Heather returned from school and saw the construction worker waiting to stare at her again. Mark took a picture of the construction worker on his phone.

Mark was so disturbed by the worker that he brought up the matter with Karen that evening and tried to convince her that they should move out of the building until the construction work was complete.
