Summary

Act II continues with Kapila telling Padmini to go rest. Instead, she puts the baby down inside and comes back out to talk to him, saying she is not tired. She tells him that the baby has the same mole as he does. She asks him why he transformed his body. Kapila explains that he had to transform Devadatta's useless body into something that would work to survive.

Padmini asks him if he remembers the song they sang in the Kali temple. He asks Padmini why she has left Devadatta. Both of them freeze and Bhagavata begins to narrate. He says that Padmini should tell Kapila that she could not forget about him because Devadatta changed so slowly. She should tell him that she wonders if she would have gone back to Devadatta had the rishi decided she should be married to Kapila...
