Hatchet Characters
Brian Robeson
Brian is the narrator of his life. He is a typical 13 year-old focused on friends and school until he's thrown into the adult situation of divorce, when his mother demands a divorce from his father. The request is unexpected and unforeseen.
Brian believes he knows the reason why the divorce occurred even if his father doesn't. He has witnessed something he shouldn't have, something he didn't choose to see - his mother in a car with a strange man.
Brian's guilt is two-fold. On one hand, he did nothing to stop his mother and maybe that would have ended everything. On the other hand, he did not tell his father what he knew and feels he has betrayed him.
The divorce has left Brian alone with his feelings and alone among his friends. He's mad at his mother, but he doesn't tell her. She has no idea that he...
