Chapter 16 Summary
Each passing day brings new skills and new triumphs. Brian now splits his food between "foolbirds," rabbit, and fish. He knows he can find food and sustain himself. By coping, he finds ways to keep on going.
One day, Brian is startled and charged by a moose. The moose strikes him in the back, shoves him out into the water, and rushes toward him to finish the job. The moose pushes him down into the muddy bottom. Hurt badly, Brian has to wait until the moose has left before he can crawl out of the water. His ribs are so sore he can barely breathe, and his shoulder is in bad shape.
Brian, returning to camp, is grateful that he'd stocked up on enough wood for a few days and had enough fish for tomorrow's meals. Just as he was beginning to sleep well, his entire life changes again. A...
