Chapter 13 Summary

Brian stands near the water and watches, listens, and smells. He's not watching and waiting for fish, Brian has set his sights on capturing and eating one of the birds that had once scared him. He has nicknamed them "foolbirds" for their habit of sitting in the brush. His senses tell him to turn, smell, listen, and feel. A wolf on a nearby hill is watching Brian intently. The wolf scares him, but he knows the wolf for what he is - just another part of his new world. The wolf makes no move to hurt him and moves away along with his pack.
