Harry is the hero of the tale. His parents were murdered at the hands of Voldemort when Harry was a baby. He bears a scar on his forehead from the attack but somehow managed to survive. The central conflict of the novel revolves around Voldemort's desire to obtain an orb containing a prophecy that foretells the battle between Voldemort and a child with the power to destroy him. It is assumed that the boy is Harry, though Neville Longbottom also fit the initial criteria. By this book in the overall series, Harry has developed a solid relationship with his godfather, Sirius Black. Unable to live with Sirius, a hunted fugitive, Harry continues to endure life with his only living blood relatives, the Dursleys. Harry is in transition from a boy into a young man.....
