Chapter 23 "Christmas on the Closed Ward" Summary

Harry and the others return to Sirius' house. The notion that Harry might be Voldemort's unwitting slave beats in his head. Harry retreats alone to his room and decides to return to the Dursleys to ensure the safety of his friends. As he packs, the former Slytherin Hogwarts Headmaster, Phineas Nevillelus, steps into his portrait and gives Harry a message from Dumbledore instructing Harry to stay where he is. Harry continues to avoid the others as they decorate the house and prepare to celebrate Christmas, though he feels they are uneasy about being around him as well. Sirius, on the other hand, is the happiest Harry has ever seen him, overjoyed at having a full house for the holidays. Hermione shows up at the house, after cutting her.....
