Chapter 21 "The Eye of the Snake" Summary

On Sunday morning, Hermione visits Hagrid again, determined to convince him to be cautious with his lessons to avoid Umbridge's wrath. Hagrid listens politely but maintains that he has more interesting lessons planned than other teachers might. Hagrid takes the class into the Forbidden Forest for his first lesson, causing a good deal of unrest among the students. Hagrid soon summons the beasts, fierce-looking flying horse lizards called Thestrals, that Harry saw pulling the children to Hogwarts at the beginning of the year. Harry is glad to learn that at least a few others can see them, but most of the students cannot.
