Chapter 20 "Hagrid's Tale" Summary

Upon hearing of Hagrid's return, the children waste no time and use Harry's invisibility cloak to visit Hagrid in his cottage. Hagrid welcomes the three of them, even though he has just returned within the hour. They find Hagrid in a frightful state, his face torn and bruised, his body battered, but his spirit still as strong as ever. The children demand that he tell of his mission and why he was so delayed in his return. Hagrid then tells a lengthy tale of his mission with his partner, Madame Maxime, as Dumbledore's emissaries to the giants living in the mountains.

Dumbledore instructs Hagrid and Maxime to very carefully attempt to befriend the giants, a near-extinct but powerful and violent race, before Voldemort is able to recruit them. Hagrid, following Dumbledore's instructions,.....
