Chapter 16 "In the Hog's Head" Summary

Two weeks pass before Hermione again asks Harry if he would consider giving Defense Against the Dark Arts lessons. After a bit of prodding, Harry agrees to teach them, as well as anyone else who is interested in learning from him. He doubts many others will be interested, given the state of his reputation. Hermione and Ron quietly spread the word and set up a meeting in a dingy tavern called "The Hog's Head" in Hogsmeade, a town the children are allowed to periodically visit with parental permission.

Much to Harry's surprise, twenty-five Hogwarts students show up for the meeting. Hermione explains the purpose of the meeting and suggests that they work out a schedule and location for Harry's private lessons. The children begin asking questions about Harry's exploits. Harry,.....
