Chapter 14 "Percy and Padfoot" Summary

Harry wakes early on Saturday morning before the others and composes a coded message to Sirius, informing him of the strange pain he felt in detention and Umbridge's demeanor. Harry also asks for information about Hagrid. As he dispatches the letter by owl, he is joined by Cho Chang, who is sending her mother a birthday gift. Harry manages to hold a conversation with her without embarrassing himself, given courage after she defends him in a confrontation with the groundskeeper, Filch, who accuses Harry of ordering Dungbombs.

Harry's spirits are raised by the support of Cho, whom Harry had once asked to a dance, Harry joins Ron and Hermione for breakfast in the Great Hall. Hermione receives her copy of the Daily Prophet and notices two alarming articles. The first proclaims.....
