Chapter 13 "Detention with Dolores" Summary

In the dining hall, Harry finds that news of his fight with Umbridge has traveled quickly and is a popular topic of discussion. Harry, Ron and Hermione retire to their house's common area, planning to do their homework, but Hermione spots Ron's brothers Fred and George testing some of their sickness-inducing candies on some first year students. Hermione forbids them from testing their items on the students and threatens to write to their mother if they don't stop immediately, while Ron decides to stay out of the confrontation. Hermione then reveals that she has been knitting hats to leave out for the house elves to find so that they will be freed from their servitude. Hermione heads off to bed and Ron makes the hats more visible, thinking that the house elves should at least know what they are picking up...
