Chapter 9 "The Woes of Mrs. Weasley" Summary

Mr. Weasley decides to drop Harry back at Phoenix HQ on his way to some Ministry business, but they first encounter Lucious Malfoy talking to Fudge down the hall from the trial. Words are exchanged, but Malfoy and Fudge decide to conclude their personal business in Fudge's chambers. Harry wonders what business the two might have together and if Fudge might be under some sort of dark charm. Others, such as Ginny Weasley, have become unwitting slaves to Voldemort, so no one is above suspicion. Mr. Weasley explains that the Order has considered this, but Dumbledore believes Fudge is working under his own authority.
