Chapter 2 "A Peck of Owls" Summary
Harry discovers that Mrs. Figg and her associate Mundungus Fletcher have been assigned to watch over him and prevent him from doing magic at all costs by none other than Dumbledore himself. Mundungus is supposed to be watching over Harry but takes a quick trip to buy some stolen cauldrons. When the dementors attack Harry and Dudley, Mundungus is nowhere to be found. Mrs. Figg ushers the boys home, encountering Mundungus along the way. He apologizes and immediately sets off to alert Dumbledore of the events that have transpired. Mrs. Figg leaves the boys on their doorstep and vanishes into the night, heading home to wait for further instructions.
Dudley's parents receive the boys at the door and interrogate Harry about what happened to their boy. During the heated interview, Harry receives four owls bearing messages. The first is from the Ministry of Magic's Improper Use of Magic Office, informing...
